Nicolette has been a practicing Portland massage therapist since 2007. She was educated through the extended massage therapy program at East West College that included special training in deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and Thai massage. Nicolette is continuously interested in the science of the human body. She has chosen to continue her education by taking the Human Anatomy and Physiology series through Portland Community College. She has also worked with OHSU’s physical and occupational therapy unit, volunteering her time in order to accentuate and hone her experience.
Nicolette has always been interested in the ways the body moves, commencing as a youngster when she was active in athletics such as soccer and rugby. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, she decided to pursue her interest of massage therapy. The program was transformative to her perspective on health and happiness, and allowed her to integrate her lifelong interest in the ways of the body with practical skills. She has found great appreciation and value in helping others in her community through giving massage and observing the progress that her patients gain.
A session with Nicolette typically includes vigorous Swedish massage with a deep tissue focus. Each session is accommodated to the needs of the patient and she will work together with the patient to seek out and attend to problem areas as needed. She enjoys integrating stretching and trigger point therapy into most sessions as appropriate. Her belief is that the goal of massage therapy is to allow the patient to leave the session feeling relaxed and refreshed with an increased awareness of his/her body and the benefits regular massage can provide.
Nicolette thoroughly relishes being a local North Portlander, participating in many of the neighborhood street fairs, festivals and bicycle rides. She continues to play soccer and remain active outdoors. One of her favorite things to do is spend time with her family members who live in the surrounding area.
