Tanya graduated from the University of Minnesota with a major in Psychology and minor in Spanish. It was during a study abroad trip that she discovered a love for Chinese medicine and decided to pursue it as a career. She landed in Portland a few years later to attend the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where she deepened her knowledge of acupuncture, herbs and massage. In 2008, she graduated with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Tanya’s approach to health and wellness stems from a Chinese upbringing. She remembers eating foods that were “cooling” and drinking herbal teas that “nourished blood”. She also watched as her grandmother went about a daily regimen of acupressure on various acupuncture points on the body. To Tanya, health is about the intersection of mind, body and spirit. She strives to provide the best traditional Chinese medicine to patients, incorporating acupuncture, herbs, Asian massage and qigong as a means to balance both the physical and emotional aspects of health.
Tanya’s specialties include musculoskeletal pain, women’s health, digestive disorders, and emotional balancing. She’s received additional training in various types of massage techniques and enjoys incorporating bodywork into her acupuncture treatments. She’s also well versed in sports medicine acupuncture, learning from Matt Callison and others, to hone in on improving the body’s proprioceptive functioning and agility and endurance. She’s worked with athletes and non-athletes alike to achieve their goals in their sport. Fertility and pregnancy is another area that Tanya enjoys treating. Whether it’s easing into the first trimester or supporting the post-partum journey into parenthood, she’s willing to provide a grounding touch and calming voice.
When not working, Tanya enjoys the bounty of the Pacific Northwest, whether it’s bathing in the sounds of nature, sampling the gastronomic abundance of the city, or connecting with family and friends.
